Threads

Threads

Threads celebrates the history of Suffolk's cloth towns; Lavenham, Sudbury, Long Melford and Bury St Edmunds.

Much activity will focus on The Guildhall in Lavenham where there will be a programme of special Threads Open Days.  On these open days, throughout 2010 and 2011, visitors will be able to see demonstrations of traditional weaving techniques by the Lavenham Guild of Spinners and Weavers.  The Guild will be working on a specially commissioned piece of textile art that will hang in the Guildhall on permanent display.  Visitors will also be able to weave their own piece of cloth.

A new Heritage Trail is also being produced with a dedicated walk around the main cloth heritage sites of each town - this will be available in the spring.

A programme of work with local schools will also begin in the Spring.

The Threads Open Days at Lavenham Guildhall will take place on:
